Deltec came in full force to MACNA Atlantic City 2009. Marvin was there displaying all the goodies from Germany, including their latest skimmers. Their skimmers have finally caught up to everyone else’s new releases. These skimmer are using wider, shorter bodies, bubble diffusers, and large necks to handle increased air flow created from their new skimmer pumps. Although these skimmers seem well designed, I think they’re fugly looking (and aesthetics do mean something!). Also, their prices seem higher than Bubble Kings. Decide for yourself and check out the pictures below.

MACNA- Freebies!
Alot of the vendors at MACNA were giving out freebies and product to highlight their products. Instant Ocean was giving out their new individually wrapped gel food. My fish didn’t know what to make of it until they tried it and a frenzy broken out! They love the stuff. I got free Tshirts from Premium Aquatics, Drs. Foster Smith, Seachem AquaVito, & AquaticLife. I got some frozen food from Rod’s foods including veggie snacks, orginal rods foods and herbivore snacks. I got a box of ‘not-yet-released’ Tropic Marin Bio-Actif Salt mix from their rep. This man knew his stuff and debated me about my salt habits. I’ll give his salt a try and maybe even switch over. Also got some frag plugs from Boston Aqua Farms and some Chemi-Pure Elite. The freebies alone are well worth the price of admission!
MACNA Video- Seachem Aquavitro Salinity
Seachem had a huge display at MACNA 2009. The product I was most interested in was their Aquavitro Salinity. This is their new salt line that looks very promising. I’m currently using their Seachem Reef Salt with good results. The new salt will be produced in-house and batch tested for consistency. Also, it will be priced similar to their existing salt, be more concentrated, and offered in their ultra cool looking 200g buckets. This salt will only be distributed to their LFS network and not available online. Can’t wait to try this stuff out (hint to Seachem, send me some salt to try out!). www.aquavitro.com
MACNA Video- Ushio
Here’s a video of the Ushio rep, at MACNA Atlantic City, discussing their new’ HID’ (150w G12 base) bulbs. It appears that with these bulbs, ‘Japanese’ style spotlight/ pendants will be available to the US market soon. I’m excited to use their bulbs and create spotlight effects on specific high light demanding SPS. Hopefully they’ll introduce different color bulbs to really do wild things with spotlights.
MACNA Video- Dr. Mac (Pacific East Aquaculture)
I took some videos while I was at MACNA 2009 this weekend. Here’s a video of Dr. Mac, owner of Pacific East Aquaculture. He had some crazy deals on coral frags and his display is always impressive. Thanks for your support of NJReef!
