Stopped over at Stan’s (RC Name: SMCooler) place last night to pick up some frags. He’s a local reefer that sells high end sps, zoo, and chalice frags to the local community. I like dealing with local reefers in this hobby. Generally you get better deals and can see the actual frags. When you buy from a store or the internet, you don’t know how the colors will turn out after they’ve been under artificial lighting.
Stan’s setup is pretty amazing. I took some photos with my Iphone. See below. He basically has 2 large frag tanks that are plumbed into a large display tank. He’s using a Deltec 902 for filtration and using a calcium reactor and kalk to maintain calcium levels. He’s also using some Brightwell additives with a splash of zeovit. He also maintains another stand alone system that’s run off a Bubble King Mini. This 120g system display has all of his super high end sps colonies. With this system, he’s using 2 part to maintain calcium levels. Whatever he’s doing, it sure looks good!
